Top 5 tips for staying employable in 2009…

27 01 2009

5.  Don’t apply everywhere. Pick a few key employers and be aggressive with them.  Finding that pefect job in this day and age can be tough.

4.  Own your skill-set.  Simply saying that you are proficient in one area or another isn’t enough.  You have to deliver, and make sure every one knows it.

3.  Avoid the getting the “blues.”  It shows when you are down and out.  To feel more confident and worthy of your next career, put yourself through the ringer at the gym.  Exercise keeps you sharp metally as well as physically.

2.  Use your spare time for self-improvement.  Learn to play an instrument, speak a foreign language, or become an expert on some obscure topic that has always sparked interest with you.

1.  Stay assertive.  You owe it to yourself.  Quit sleeping in and eating sausage biscuits every morning.  Get youself moving.  “Motion creates emotion.”
